Animation Study

Flight School:

Birds&Dragon
Turn:

1. not sysmetrical wing, when it turns left, the left side wind will bend more than the right side
2. the tail will keep balance, look at the tail turn

Gliding:
avid the obstacle, the wind

Flutter&landing
change direction

Landing-happen in the mid flight, approach the landing, go over obstacle, the body will be vertical, the legs are dangling

Bird Anatomy:

When it flaps, more frames on down position than up, to overcome the air pressure,   and Humerus always parallel to Carpometacarpus.

Owl Fly speed: 12-16 frames per flap for a cartoon animation per second

Dragons FlightCycle Front from Xiang Liu on Vimeo.
Dragon has more weight. It's a tricky animal. But I love it so much, it is so cool to fly in the air. The most difficult part is the neck movement . Head leads chest, chest lead wing,  then the tail.........It needs more time to fly , the body needs more wavy and flexible.

Bird Reference Study Tutorial:

Bird Rotation Axis-------(Helpful)

Useful Tutorial----------
http://brendanbody.blogspot.com/search/label/Tutorials

Big creature weight:

body transform, the line of the upper body and pelvis rotate

the shoulder pops up after hits the ground

the shoulder needs to be raised in the air, then when it reaches the ground , it comes down, after that it will pop up again.

keep the feet alive

draw a line from the head to the tail--------much animals are straight

add wobble on the neck, three controllers

Animal Turn:

3 important things for the animal turn:
1. Head turn indicating
2. Hip initiate
3. Front leg steps first

2 kinds of turn
high speed  turn(dramatic turn)
tighter turn
factors: flexibility (like a cat compared to a horse)Horse is more straight

Turn Radius:
Horse not going to have flexibility
move at the same time

lead mostly with the inside feet
Reference:Barrel Racing- no reins
Nice strong  force line

How to pose a character: (tips)

Line of Action
silhouette
weigh& Balance------- not pleasing the audience,

Instructions:     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsW3jGtmNtA

learn posing need practice, it doesn't happen at night

Dynamic posing:
Graphic design courses

Focal point------Head
All the lines should draw up to the head

supportive line, action line
forward line of action

Anatomy--------bones broken
where's the hip bone

Anatomy-------the bones broken... how the silhouette works
study: Anatomy, figure drawing, mocap
spend ur time on the poses

one leg curl, and another leg stand straight, 90 degree
Questions:    do you have suggestions for how to practice dynamic poses?
see how it move to the next pose, work on one pose first

compensate with the mind
Suggestions: Make sure ur pose is readable, make sure u don't break any bones of the poses
take a look at action figure and statue( not come across those awkward poses)
when u move on to next pose, see how it works for the last pose, compensate the center of the mesh( 支撑身体的一部分)
